This has been a great little lock for securing a hard case. I travel quite a bit, and it’s a hassle to say the least. As I am sure you know already, my old case had TSA locks built into it but didn’t last too long, so I got a much better case that needed an additional 3rd-party lock. So off to Amazon to see if I could find a TSA-approved lock that was robust enough to give me the security I required. I came across this one and decided to give it a try, and so happy I did! This is one strong lock, it is made extremely well, definitely a high-quality product that will last for years of abuse. The included instructions let you set your own personal 4-digit combo, so easy to remember but still allows TSA to open it if they want to without damaging your lock. The cable is nice and thick, but not so thick that it is hard to use. A neat feature is the way the shaft ‘ratchets’ into the lock when you insert it to lock the lock. I am going to get a couple more of these for other cases, as this lock is so good and is TSA approved for the same price you would pay for just a regular lock. If you need a TSA lock that is made to take a beating and don’t want to spend a lot of money, this is the lock you want. Buy it, use it, and know that your ‘treasures’ are safe and secure.

This lock works well for my hard travel case. We will use this without hesitation. The bolt is very close to the size on the case opening, so I wasn't sure if it was going to slide in without getting stuck. It fit nicely. The combination lock is very simple to set up and easy to read the numbers clearly The housing feels solidly built, including the bolt and the numbers that turn freely. When you unlock this, the mechanism unfurls with quite a bit of instant pressure, so I have to be a little careful upon opening.When we travel, I don't want to be slowed down with a lock that is bulky or hard to open. Having this one on hand, I know I'll be able to access the contents quickly without struggling for too long. Most of these locks available in the market look similar. But this one feels substantial in the hand and operates smoothly. The bolt is thick enough and built to last. Once the combination is locked, the pin isn't loose and doesn't rattle or slip.Overall, I would recommend this item due to the compact size and reliable opening and closing. It arrived with instructions on how to set the combination. It was reassuring to find that it's more difficult to reset the combination than merely intuitive. It should be harder to reset than any bike lock! The body of the lock seems to be sturdy and strong, the braided wire connector is within a plastic coating to keep it from being abraded, and the post is almost 1/4 inch thick. Obviously anyone who is particularly determined can get into any lock, but this is a great deterrent for casual theft. It fit with no problems on my rifle case, so I feel a lot happier driving to my hunts.

I bought these (2) for my gun case … EXCELLENT EXCELLENT EXCELLENT … as a retired person with a lifetime of fine tool making and technical work (tool & die, engineering, electronics & computer design,) these locks are an excellent design & very reasonable cost! I lubed mine with Houdini lube (also excl) and then set my combination (simple & easy) and put them on the gun case! They spring opens with good positive action ,,, the cable is SS and it is shrouded with protective plastic. These are great also because the ‘post lock’ does not leave exposed area where it would be possible to use a bolt cutter to directly attack the shaft of the lock (as conventional locks have)!
