It took me a bit to review because we are mid-renovation on our house. Our living room had one outlet in the middle of the floor that was a plain one outlet recessed plug. We couldn't have changed it out for this one easily if we hadn't been removing all our flooring as part of the remodel because the box that needed to be installed for this outlet was bigger and deeper than the single plug we had in our previous tile floor.Once all our tile and backer board was removed, the insert box for this outlet was easy to install and it has adjustments so you can set it for different flooring heights. I recorded a short video of the new outlet after being installed. You slide the button out to open it partially and then again to open it fully. The mechanism moves smoothly and the quality is good. The finish does show smudges a bit but they are easy to wipe away.The finish is a brushed nickel. This outlet looks much better than the single outlet we had in the floor and now the outlet can be tucked away when not in use.

I didn't expect this to be as heavy as it is. It seems well made, springs up nicely, latches back in place. Looks like it'll be ready to install... I'm still building the cabinet in a cargo camper conversion, so don't have any pictures of it yet, bit this week be going on the countertop

When I took it out of the box, I was surprised at how heavy this unit is. A lot of real metal in there and very little cheap plastic. As a floor outlet, you could confidently walk on this unit while closed without risk of damaging it.When you pull the release tab, the unit opens quite slowly on a spring mechanism, and if you let the tab go, it gets caught in the USB slot (I took a picture of this) preventing the unit from fully opening. It doesn't damage anything, but it is annoying and for me at least, rather than wait for it to open, I pull it open more quickly - so that neat release the tab and the unit swings open automatically function does not work that well.Installing it is easy. It comes with a template to use. I installed mine on a desk.Electrically no problems. The outlets and USB sockets work as advertised.

installed this to replace an older recessed floor outlet that didn't have a cover and constantly collected dirt, dust, and dog hair. This has been a huge improvement and is a much cleaner, more practical solution.The outlet feels very solid and well made, and the pop-up design works well overall. I also like having both the standard receptacle and the USB-A and USB-C charging ports built in, which makes it very convenient.The only reason I'm giving it four instead of five stars is a small design issue. When the outlet pops up, the latch catches on the USB port, so you have to hold the latch open until the unit is fully extended. It's not a major problem, but it does make opening it a little less smooth than it should be.Other than that minor annoyance, I'm very happy with it and would recommend it to anyone looking to upgrade an old floor outlet.

I ordered this to install in a conference table for the ladies in my church quilting group. I'm always worried they are going to trip over the extension cords they run around the room. This is a full kit for the price of a good GFCI outlet with DC charging ports, so quite a good deal. I like that there are fixed-position clamps built in, with flexible stranded wire conductors feeding the outlet itself. In my case, I will be running stranded THHN wire to the receptacle, but those strands are not fine enough to survive routine flexing in such an application.When I initially opened the box, the latching mechanism would barely engage when I pushed it closed - I had to push hard. I was able to loosen screws and shift things around so that it latches more easily. Also, the latch mechanism catches on the USB port and another part of the face of the outlet. I may break out my Dremel tool to grind away some of the latch. I think that would fully resolve both issues. Normally, I would subtract a star if I needed to do that kind of modification to a product, but this is such a good deal that I think it deserves all five stars. It also comes with a rigid plastic box cover to use during rough-in. That would be particularly handy if I were installing this in the floor of new construction.
