The LED flat-panel lights aren’t included.My Experience: I needed better lighting in my basement workshop, but I have absolutely no desire to install a drop ceiling just to accommodate 2x4 LED flat-panel lights. I already had a panel I wanted to use, so I initially created a temporary contraption to hold it against the ceiling. It worked, but it definitely looked like a contraption!These frames provided exactly the solution I needed. They let me surface-mount the LED panel directly to the ceiling, and now the light actually looks like it belongs there.Assembly was straightforward. Once installed, the aluminum frame feels solid and holds the panel securely. More importantly for me, it gives the entire installation a clean, intentional, finished appearance rather than looking like I improvised a way to attach a drop-ceiling fixture to a regular ceiling.Getting two frames in the package is also a nice value since I’m adding more lighting to the workshop.If you like the bright, broad illumination of 2x4 LED panels but don’t have or want a suspended ceiling, these frames are a great solution.

I got these for the kitchen to brighten it up, and I happened to have several 2x4 LED fixtures that needed homes. With that, I got busy and set up the frames. I also have wireless controls with 0–10V dimming, so I don't have to turn on both lights at once. If I did, I'd probably need sunglasses indoors!These frames are great for projects where a 2x4 LED panel fits the bill. The fixtures I used are thin enough. I used a 90-degree MX connector on the fixture so it can slide into the frame, and you're done. This lets you use standard 2x4 LED panels where you don't have a suspended ceiling.Keep one thing in mind: you might have to service that fixture down the road. It is best to do it right the first time and use a fixture with a good track record. Once everything is mounted overhead, you don't want to be taking it apart again anytime soon.A word to the wise: install the entire frame in one shot. Get everything square and secured to the ceiling, then remove one side of the frame to slide the fixture into place. Many fixtures have a six-foot whip, and depending on the light and available clearance, you may need a 90-degree connector so the wiring clears the frame while sliding the fixture in.Overall, these are simple, useful mounting frames that do exactly what I needed. If you already have 2x4 LED panels and no drop ceiling to put them in, this is a clean way to give those fixtures a home.
