I have a small shop, and a fair share of my work is drilling holes in thin steel, stainless, and plastic - mostly PVC.  One thing I was reluctant in using was a step drill.  My initial purchase was a bargain basement version and as you know, you get what you pay for.  Since then, I have purchased better quality bits and that, pretty much solved most problems.   My go-to step drill is a M35 cobalt, double flute stepper, and that has served me well over the years.  Along comes the SEDIANAS store with a M35 cobalt, SPIRAL, FOUR-FLUTE, stepper that pretty much blows away my current go-to bit.  Although I haven't had a contract needing this bit, test holes in PVC tubing yielded faster and cleaner results. The step drill appears to be very sharp and with careful use and, lubricant as needed,  this step bit should give good long service life. Form, fit, function of the bit shows no problems or issues, everything points to a quality step bit.  Close inspection shows the bit went through a heat-treating process.  The drive end is a 1/4-inch hex to fit securely in my drill press or hand drill.   So far, so good!  I'm thinking the 4-flute, spiral design is newer, cutting technology and I'm seeing that in some of my router trim-bits.  If the overall performance of this is similar to some of my other tooling, I'm sold. Price and value are outstanding for a cobalt step drill of this quality, making this an excellent bang for the buck.  This is a welcome addition to my drill tooling stash.    5-stars across the board and definetely a redcommended buy.

I haven't had any projects where I put this through the ringer yet, but it tore through abs plastic just fine. Seems to be well built. Easy to use, and worked fast. And of course it fit my drill.

i ordered this for a project that required drilling through sheet metal and plastics. i initially ordered this and tested right away on pvc where this step drill was able to drill a 1/2" hole like nothing. later on when the sheet metal came in i ran a few tests and had good results as well. this step drill bitcome packaged in a rugged plastic housing which is perfect when you need to throw it into your tool bag. the step drill bit itself seems nice an heavy duty in the hand. after drilling through pvc i went to check the condition of the step drill bit and didn't really see any change. usually step drill bit sonly last me about 1 or 2 projects before becoming too dull. so far i've used this for one project and it seems to be dooing a better job as it looks like it could last another 2 projects. i'm assuming this is inpart to the TiAN coating as this coating is said to help reduce heat which thus improves the lifespan of the bit. of course i could see this bit wearing faster if used on hard materials

This drill bit claims to be cobalt, which should have no problem with stainless steel. Unfortunately, I haven't needed to drill through any stainless lately, but I'msure that'llhappen soon enough. I have been able to use this with aluminum, wood and PVC and so far, this thing has been awesome. It plows through with no problem. There are markings running up the bit indicating the sizes at each step. The shank fits well in all three (yellow, red and neon green) brands of drills and impact drivers that I've tried. The flutes seem to do a good job at clearing out chips. So far, this thing has held up really well. It still looks basically brand new. If (when) I get the chance to use it on some stainless, I'll come back and update this with any problems if there are any.

I'm in the process of building an HO train layout using 2x4s for supports and 3/4 inch plywood for table tops. As such I have to drill a lot of holes, such as pilot holes for screws, holes for wire runs, etc. This step bit has made it easier since I don't have to change drill bits for different sizes.The bit comes in a nice plastic case for storage and safe keeping. The flutes are sharp and the 1/4 inch hex shaft mounts nicely in my cordless drill. The Tiain coating seems durable and should last through many drilling sessions.Since I've never used a step bit before there has been a bit of a learning curve. I found it's easy to drill too far and make the hole size bigger than I had intended. I also found that since I'm using the bit in a hand drill rather than a drill press it's easy to be a little off center on the holes I drill. But all of this is operator error and doesn't take away from the step bit's performance. It does drill cleanly through my 2x4s and plywood and as I'm getting the hang of it I find it has saved me time from having to switch drill bits constantly. I don't usually drill any metal so I have no idea how it would stand up to that kind of usage but I'm happy with the speed and accuracy it does in wood.
